Day 1
Leave Glasgow and travel north via Loch Lomond and take the road west over the Rest and be Thankful mountain pass. Passing along Loch Fyne we come to the town of Inverary. This once important main town of Argyllshire has its main attraction of Inverary Castle. Home to the Duke of Argyll it is open to the public and has a great collection of early French furniture, paintings, armoury and memorabilia of the Clan Campbell.
Leaving Inverary we head north to Loch Awe, passing the much photographed Kilchurn Castle, once a stronghold of Black Duncan. After a visit to St Connan Church we will continue west and into the town of Oban. In the evening we will eat at MacTavishes Kitchen, where you can experience a Scottish evening with song and dance, and the Highland Bagpipes.
Day 2
Take the ferry to The Island of Mull. Weather permitting we will go west and make a visit to Iona with the Cathedral symbol of Scotland early links with St Columba. A fascinating trip can be made to the Island of Staffa, where Felix Mendelsohn got his inspiration for the Fingals Cave overture. Stay in Tobermory.
Day 3
A pleasant day visiting much of this fascinating Island. See the carved stones at Kilninian and the round tower of Dervaig. Perhaps a visit to Tobermory Distillery before we will visit the Castle of Duart, home to the Chief of Clan MacLean and Torosay Castle and gardens. A second night on the Island.
Day 4
Leave the Island from Tobermory to Kilchoan and take the remote journey back to Glencoe where the Clan Campbell will forever be remembered for the deeds of 1692. Head south now over the Rannoch Moor and down to Glasgow via Loch Lomond.
